Compact Dry YM | Yeast and Mold

Compact Dry YM plates offer a straightforward way to track spoilage fungi and airborne contamination throughout food, beverage, and personal-care production. Each pre-sterilized dish contains a dehydrated, fungus-selective medium that re-hydrates on contact with 1 mL of sample or rinse liquid. Yeasts grow as smooth blue to cream colonies and molds develop characteristic filamentous colonies with species-specific colors and textures. The chromogenic background stays pale, so counts are easy.

Incubation parameters

pH tip: Adjust the product (or a 1 : 10 dilution) to pH 6 – 7 with 0.1 – 1 N NaOH (acidic) or HCl (alkaline) to ensure optimal colony development.
