Compact Dry VP | Vibrio parahaemolyticus
Box of 100 plates
Compact Dry VP plates provide a one-step screen for the three Vibrio species of greatest concern—V. parahaemolyticus, V. vulnificus, and V. cholerae. Each pre-sterilized dish contains selective agents and twin chromogenic substrates. Target organisms develop with species-specific colors that make interpretation effortless:
| Colony Color | Presumptive Species |
| Blue / blue-green | V. parahaemolyticus |
| Pink / magenta | V. vulnificus or V. cholerae |
All other flora are largely suppressed, so counts stay clear even in complex seafood matrices.
Compact Dry VP streamlines Vibrio monitoring—delivering clear, species-differentiated results in under 24 hours, so you can release seafood products with confidence and keep safety programs on target.
Key Benefits
- True “open → inoculate → incubate” workflow – no agar prep, spreading, or autoclaving.
- Distinct chromogenic read-out – colour coding lets operators differentiate key Vibrio pathogens at a glance.
- Optimised for high-salt samples – ideal for raw shellfish, fish fillets, brines, and coastal-water swabs.
- Ambient-stable & space-saving – store at 1 – 30 °C; slim plates stack neatly to maximise incubator capacity.
- Supports HACCP & export testing – helps demonstrate compliance with zero-tolerance or low-limit Vibrio specifications.
Incubation parameters
| Temperature | Time |
| 35 ± 2 °C | 19 ± 1 h |
pH tip: Adjust the product (or a 1 : 10 dilution) to pH 6 – 7 with 0.1 – 1 N NaOH (acidic) or HCl (alkaline) for optimal colony development.
Performance
Countable range: 1 – 300 CFU per plate (1 mL inoculum).
