Product details

Compact Dry SL plates give quality-assurance teams a streamlined way to screen raw materials, finished foods, and environmental swabs for Salmonella spp.—a pathogen that must be absent in all products under FDA regulations. Each pre-sterilized dish contains selective agents, indicators, and chromogens. Target organisms produce characteristic black-to-green colonies on a yellow background, while non-Salmonella flora are suppressed, allowing rapid visual confirmation.

Compact Dry SL simplifies Salmonella screening, delivering next-day, easy-to-read results that keep zero-tolerance safety programs on track.

Key Benefits

  • Clear chromogenic read-out – black/green colonies confirm presumptive Salmonella for quick decision-making.
  • Ambient-stable & stackable – store at 1–30 °C; slim plates maximise incubator capacity.
  • Broad application – ideal for poultry, meat, dairy, low-moisture foods, produce, and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Supports zero-tolerance standards – helps verify sanitation controls where even a single cell is unacceptable.

Test parameters

Step Temperature Time
Pre-enrichment 35 – 37 °C 22 ± 2 h
Plate incubation 41 – 43 °C 22 ± 2 h

pH tip: Adjust the product (or 1 : 10 dilution) to pH 6 – 7 with 0.1 – 1 N NaOH (acidic samples) or HCl (alkaline samples) to ensure optimal recovery.

Result Interpretation

  • Yellow medium – alkalization indicates possible Salmonella growth.
  • Black / green colonies – presumptive Salmonella spp.; confirm per ISO 6579-1 or equivalent method.

Performance

Countable range: 1 – 300 CFU per plate (1 mL inoculum) when enumeration is required.
